Adventures At Nana's....

What a great weekend we had!   On New Years Day we headed up to South Carolina to visit my Mom.   The kids were very excited to see Nana and stay in her house...  We got a late start, of course, and the trip up was pretty crummy--- rained the whole way up...  But once we reached our destination, it was really relaxing and fun!  It is funny how even as an adult, sometimes I just need my Mommy...  It was good to smell the smell of her house and feel at home again.  It was a bit strange at first, but I felt pretty comfortable pretty quickly---  I haven't actually spent the night there in years.   The children had a ball...  Nana's house is like a wonderland of sights and sounds.  She is a collector... of all sorts of things... beautiful, fanciful things.  Books, dolls, music boxes, figurines, you name it she's got it.   She has everything beautifully displayed.  The kids were in Heaven.  And I was very happy to be away from reality for a while.  Nice.

My Brother and his kids came over on Sunday, and the cousins spent the day playing and playing and playing.  It was actually not as chaotic as it was entertaining to have 7 children in Nana's house...  She might beg to differ, but I really think she enjoyed it.  My Brother and I agreed that it felt like being in a small cabin in the woods...  we laughed about what it would be like if we all got snowed in with the 7 kiddos for days...  Nana informed us that she has a stash of beer and "cooking" wine, so we decided it would be okay...  Surprisingly, the house wasn't very trashed when everyone left.   It was a very good weekend.  A very good start to the New Year.
