I haven't been keeping up too well with my blog lately--I've been preoccupied with my "complications"... But, Halloween season is quickly approaching, and the kids are getting excited. D asks me everyday if we can go "trick or treating". I keep explaining to him that we have to wait until the end of October. He says, "Oh, Someday?" And I say, "Yes, someday..." That is how he measures time-- if it's not today, it must be "someday".
Little A is getting so big and talkative now--a year ago, she barely spoke a word and had little interest in interacting with humans. Now she chats all the time, and gives out hugs and kisses readily. She has really blossomed. Don't get me wrong, she's still a moody little girl, but she can also be so sweet... And, she finally has enough hair to put into two little ponytails....so cute!!!

Complications...
Life can be so complicated... I try to keep mine as simple as possible, but I inevitably manage to upset the balance. I'm not sure how other single parents manage to work, raise kids, socialize, and date at the same time. I'm not sure I will ever be able to manage all of those things-- I can barely seem to work and raise children... Anyway, I have upset my balance recently, we'll see what happens. I'm sure I will regret it in the end, one way or another...
On a lighter note, D and Big A had a soccer game this weekend. I was so proud of D. He really tried to play this time, and it paid off-- he got the ball!!! He never has managed to keep up enough to steal the ball away, but he did this time. You could tell he was very proud of himself. I was proud too. Big A scored 3 or 4 goals, so she had something to be proud of as well.

Hooray...
Hooray!!! My computer is fixed!! I ordered the LED inverter on Sunday-- it came in today, and I popped the old one out, put the new one in, and all is well... Yes, I have no computer knowledge, but I'll try anything to save a buck when it comes to costly repairs.
I am still trying to get over this cold. I have been dragging for about a week now... Since I have been sick, I have been having the strangest dreams. I have been dreaming about people that I haven't seen in years--some have been good, some have been really bad. Lately, I have had a few dreams about a guy I dated in college--very disturbing dreams about him dying... I mentioned it to my Mom this morning. She dug up his parents' number and called them to find out how he was doing. Within the hour, she called me back to report that he is alive and well, living in Greenville with his wife and two children... She also reported that he had a cold last week, but otherwise his health is fine. :) So now I can rest easy... I would love to catch up with him, but his wife may not like it (even though everyone knows I'm no threat when it comes to stealing husbands), so I'll just let it go. I am glad to know that his life is going well though.
Nothing much to report on the home front... Still the same screaming, fighting, and general chaos... Little A has developed the bizarre desire to wear only one sock--always on the right foot. She also insists on wearing socks that do not match her outfits...

Computer Woes And Circus Adventures....
The past few days have been rough for me. A terrible thing happened--my laptop screen is not working!!! Don't laugh. You must remember that I have absolutely no social life, so I spend a lot of time on the computer surfing the web, reading blogs, etc. So you can imagine how frustrating it is to turn on the computer and See that the screen is black... It all started Friday night when my power cord shorted out (the result of children messing with it). The cord made a strange buzzing noise, and moments later my screen went blank. I think that the back light inverter was fried. Actually I can see the screen if I hold a flashlight up to it-- the screen is just incredibly dark. In fact, I am on the laptop right now with a desk lamp shining over the screen so I can see to write... How lame is that? I do have an old desktop, which, fortunately, I just had repaired, but the screen on that one is not working well either (things are fuzzy on that screen), Hopefully, I can find a place to get the part and get the problem fixed soon.
Yesterday was a busy day for the kids. Big A and D had their first soccer game. They seemed to have good time--well Big A had fun. D complained the whole time about being hungry... I have photos of the game, but I can't post them yet because I can't see the screen well enough to see which photo is which!!! Saturday evening, I took the kids to the Circus. I told them I had a surprise for them. They had no idea what it was until we actually got there. They really had a great time! Now Big A wants to be a Circus performer--specifically a Circus acrobat. D wants to ride the Elephants--so does Little A. It was a long, but fun day. I hope to post photos later...

A Very Long Week...
I have been meaning to post all week, but I just haven't had the time. By the time I get home from work, feed the kids, bath them, and get them to bed, I am too exhausted. The story of my life... This week, in particular has been challenging...
Last Saturday, we drove to Columbia, SC for a birthday party, and came home the same day. Despite the long drive, the kids had a great time. Sunday was spent recovering from Saturday... Monday the school attempted to call me to tell me Little A was throwing up, but I was at a hospital with poor cell reception, so I didn't get the message. Poor Little A spent her afternoon vomiting at school. She continued to vomit all night long... I "slept" in her bed with her, so I could repeatedly change the towels and blankets she was vomiting on. It was a very long night!!! Fortunately, for me at least, Theresa is in town for a visit, so she got to keep vomiting Little A on Tuesday while I went to work. (I was filling in at a hospital while the owner was on vacation so I couldn't cancel). Little A was back to her old self by mid afternoon, but both Theresa and I have been under the weather the last couple of days--probably the result of getting vomited on by a 3 year old...
Wednesday was uneventful, aside from me feeling like sh--. And now it is Thursday (only Thursday!?!), and I can't wait for Saturday to roll around again...

Fall Soccer Is Here!!!
I am sitting at work--in Locust Grove, Georgia, watching the gas prices rising... It is unbelievable. Yesterday the price outside the office was $3.59/gallon, This afternoon they raised it to $5.20/gallon!!! That is bullshit!!! No gas truck has come today to put gas into the ground!! That is price gouging at it's finest... It is pathetic. I wish I had money invested in oil companies-- those people are the only ones prospering in this shitty economy...
Big A and D had their first soccer practice on Wednesday. We were late getting there, of course, but they had a good time. D had some trouble keeping up with the other kids, and had a couple of minor meltdowns, but he said he liked playing. I tried to explain to him that he should just try to have fun out there and not get discouraged if he doesn't always get the ball. I hope he has a good time playing. I wish I could make him a faster runner, but I can't. I'm sure it gets incredibly frustrating for him to always be weaker and slower than the the kids. I hope his struggles in life make him a stronger person in the end.

D's Poster...
We had a good weekend. Nana came down on Friday to have lunch at Little A's daycare-- it was the "grand parent's day lunch". Then she and Little A picked up Big A and D from school. The kids had a great time hanging out with Nana while Mommy was at work... While She was visiting, Nana made D a poster... She had made one for each of the girls when they were born, so she made one to commemorate his adoption...

The Girl's Posters...
Nana left Saturday afternoon. The rest of the weekend was pretty uneventful. The children played in the yard, and I mowed it...
Today it was back to work and school. And now it's time for bed...

Adventures In Mycoplasma And Hives...
What a week.... Again it is Friday, and I am thankful. I am sooo tired I can barely keep my eyes open. I'm really not sure why.
Poor D has been having quite a week as well. Tuesday morning he woke, got ready for school, and broke out in hives. They started on his fingers and hands, then moved up to his arms. Weird. I gave him some Benadryl and they went away. The next morning the same thing happened... So I gave him more Benadryl and sent him on to school. I couldn't decide what he was having an allergic reaction too. Nothing has changed around the house. Yesterday, the aftercare teacher called me at work to say that D was not feeling well--he had a headache and just wanted to sit away from all of the other children. So, I left work early to pick him up. He was not running a fever. He refused to eat dinner and wanted to go to bed. I made an appointment to take him to the pediatrician this morning.
This morning I did my best to get everyone ready for school--that didn't work out. My plan was to get the kids up and take the girls to school then get D to the doctor by 8:30. I had to be at work at 10:00. Well, as usual, I was running late. D did not want to get out of bed at all! So, since Big A was going to be at school late anyway, I just took all the kids with me. Turns out that that was a good thing because, after examining D and not really knowing what was causing the rash (maybe a viral rash, maybe an allergic reaction, maybe Strep....), the doctor heard Big A's cough. "Wow she sounds really terrible!" he said. I agreed. She has been coughing non stop since she got sick 2 weeks ago. Yes, I know that I should probably have taken her into the doctor, but every time in the past that I have, she has been diagnosed with asthma. They then give her a breathing treatment and tell me to use her albuterol inhaler at home. So, I just assumed that it was the same thing.
He asked if I had listened to her chest. I said not in the last week. So I asked him to take a listen. Well, it turns out that this time instead of wheezing, he heard harsh lung sounds-- the kind of sounds one hears with early pneumonia... He said that there were many cases of Mycoplasma pneumonia going around this season. Mostly likely that's what she has... So I took my son in for hives, and got my daughter diagnosed with walking pneumonia. Go figure. He put Big A on an antibiotic and a pred inhaler, strep tested D (it was negative btw), and told me to give him Zyrtec over the weekend. If he still has hives or a rash on Monday, I am to bring him back for further testing...
Ah, to have one weekend without a sick child... Fall is definitely here!!!

A Lazy Labor Day....
Our Labor Day as pretty low key. I started to mow the lawn, but quickly bent a blade, so I just put the mower back in the shed and went inside to watch some TV... I did attempt some house cleaning, but the children did a pretty good job of destroying any progress I was making. So I gave up and we all went outside to play... We took the bicycles out for a while... Here are some scenes from our day...
