Myrtle Beach Adventures....

Last week the kids and I headed to South Carolina for a beach vacation... actually sort of work/vacation... Every year there is a veterinary conference at Myrtle Beach. I have gone the last 3 or 4 years.... It is a good way for my to get my CE and give the kids a trip to the beach at one time. Myrtle Beach is about a 6 hour drive from Atlanta. Normally we stay for at least 10 days, but this year we only stayed 6 nights--- money is tight. :( But we had a great time!!!

I REALLY needed to get away!!!! I have been going through a huge amount of stress recently, and this trip did me a world of good! I felt so at peace and content-- it has been a long time since I have felt this way. I had a great time with my children. It made me realize just how much fun it is to have 3 crazy kids. I have felt like a bad mother recently... sort of going through a midlife crisis or something. I have not been as present for my children as I should have been---more wrapped up in my own f***** up drama. Don't get me wrong, I have been physically present, but I have been disconnected... preoccupied... not good. This trip brought me back to reality. The most important people in my life are my kids, and they should always be my primary focus--- especially now, while they are young. They only have one childhood, and I don't want to miss it. Anyway, we had fun.

Nana met us at the beach... She hates the sand and salt water, but was nice enough to help babysit the kids while I was at the conference. The kids were happy to see her, of course... She was a pretty good sport about it all though. We dragged her out on the beach, we dragged her to out to eat, we dragged her to play putt-putt....etc. We event dragged her to Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede Show. D got to be in the spotlight at the show--- he got picked to stand in front of the audience and twirl a lasso!!!! He was very excited! Of course I did not bring my camera, but I did get a photo on my phone... now I just have to figure out how to upload it to the computer.

Most of our time was spent relaxing on the beach.... I haven't felt that at peace in a long time. It was soooo good to get away from Atlanta. Unfortunately, the girls and I got burned, and we are now peeling. D has great skin--- tans so easily... he was spared and now has a great tan!!! I was definitely not ready to come home. I swear someday I am going to move to the coast!!!
