Elementary School Adventures....

Today was a big day!!! D and Big A had their first day of Kindergarten!!! They were very excited, especially Big A. Last night she had trouble getting to sleep, then she woke me up at 4:00am, saying that she couldn't sleep and she wanted to get ready for school. I put her in bed with me and told her it was too early to get up. They were so proud of their backpacks filled with school supplies and their new lunch boxes! Of course Little A had to take her back pack to school today also--after all she was starting a new class too. Today Little A officially entered the "Octopii Class" at daycare-- that means no more pull ups, only panties allowed!!

I drove my Kindergartners to the school, and walked them in. The room was all set up and inviting-- much better than at Open House. They found their names on the tables and got all set up with their pencil bags and crayons. It was very cute. Of course I brought the camera to document my children's first day in Elementary School. I was really concerned about D being so behind, but the Teacher assured me that he would be fine... So Little A and I left them to begin their education...

When I picked them up in the afternoon, the Teacher said that they both did very well. She was so surprised at how much English D speaks. It is amazing how incredibly fast he is learning English! He really is like a sponge--he repeats everything he hears and remembers it! I wish that I had that capacity to learn foreign languages. It is quite shocking. People had told me that he would learn English with no problem, but you have to see it to believe it. Still, I find it sad that he is not retaining his Russian. When I ask him to speak Russian, he says, "No, Ya no like it!" And that is that. He flat out refuses.

Little A also did very well in her new class. She went to the potty all day and did not have any accidents. She says she likes the Octopii Class, but she was really happy to get her "Paccie" when we got out to the car... That habit is going to be really, really hard to break---sort of like me and my Nicotine Gum! :)

Below are some photos of my Big Kids on their first day of school!!!

D, Ready To Learn!!
When I took a look at their coloring pages from today, I was struck by the differences.... Take a look-- Big A's is on the left, D's is on the right....

Maybe It's A Russian Thing -- Everything

Or Maybe It's The Difference Between
Boys And Girls...
