This past weekend, Big A and I went to a local Girl Scout Camp for their annual "Serendipity Weekend. It is a Mother /Daughter Camping event, and we had so much fun just spending time alone together. It was the first trip we have taken alone since before Little A was born... over 5 years ago! Nana came down to was the younger two for the weekend, so they got plenty of attention too.
I knew that we would have a good time, but it turned out to be even more fun than we expected... The weekend was packed with activities for us to choose from... canoeing, horseback riding, basket weaving, tie dying, screen printing, sewing, too many crafts too mention, and of course campfire gatherings, s'more-making, songs and skits.... We cooked out breakfast, lunch, and dinner... had a picnic by the woods, and of course took a little hike around the camp... There are cabins at the camp, but we chose to stay in the platform tents because we'd never done it before... Luckily, we got the entire tent to ourselves! At night, we took turns reading spooky ghost stories to each other.... I have to admit, it was pretty awesome hangin' out with my kid! She's pretty cool!!! Big A made friend with several of the girls at camp, and had fun playing with them as well. All in all, it was a great bonding experience for the two of us! We both came home dirty and exhausted... just in time for a Sunday big home cooked lunch by Nana.... which was awesome too!!!
Getting away for the weekend was just what I needed to give me some perspective about my life.... It was stressful trying to get ready for the trip, while working so much, but it was so worth it! I came back rejuvenated... Although, I have to admit, as the week is wearing on, my energy is starting to fade a bit... But it will be alright... only two more days until my next day off... | | |
