Adventures in Amelia Island 2011...

Okay, so I will try to recap our trip to Amelia Island...  I can pretty much sum it up by saying that it was GREAT to get away from Atlanta for a while.  It is so peaceful there.  And calm.  And quiet.  And small.  And quaint.  And friendly.  And pretty much perfect.  At least that's my opinion.  The week went by way too fast...  I was not at all happy to leave.  I fell in love with it all over again...  And I can't wait to go back... I would move there right now if I could. I am totally serious about that.  I don't know why, but it feels like it should be home.  I'm not saying that just because it is a beach town--- I've visited tons of other beach towns, but none have ever made me feel this way.  Anyway, at least I can dream.

The kids had a blast, of course. We went to the beach everyday, but one... It was cold and rainy that morning, so we went into town, had lunch, and shopped.  We also visited Fort Clinch State Park--- which was awesome.  In fact all my children said that was their favorite day.  Who knew and old Civil War fort could be so cool?!?  After visiting the fort, we went to the state park beach, and pretty much had the whole place to ourselves.  Very cool.  I would love to camp there sometime, although the ranger said that reservations need to be made about 11 months in advance.... Hmm, time to start planning for next spring break! :)

All in all the trip was a success.  There were definitely a few "issues", but no need to mention those here.  The important thing is that the kids had a great time, and I think the adults did as well!  Ah, to be back at the beach...
