Our Stone Mountain Adventures....

I am finally getting around to writing about our camping trip at Stone Mountain last weekend... This week has been more hectic than usual, and I haven't been in the greatest of moods, so I thought I better wait until I had some time to think. The kids had a great time camping and hiking. I did also, but there was one episode that I wish had not happened... I'll write about that later-- a different post, with a much different mood....

On Saturday, we loaded up the van with our tent, sleeping bags, and other gear... D was very excited, this camping trip was his birthday wish! My brother , Gabe, and My sister in law, Sherri, came down from Greenville with their four boys. A real Osborne Family event!!! The kids and I got to the campsite before Gabe's family, so I attempted to set up my new tent by myself... Well, the tent was much bigger than I had imagined, and when I opened the bag, I discovered that my new tent had no directions!!! Fun times... I figured out where all of the poles went, but I couldn't get the damn thing up... It was just too big! Big A tried to help, but she wasn't tall enough. Fortunately, a man at the next campsite came over and helped my set it up.... very nice guy!

Once Gabe and his family arrived and set up their camp, the kids began to explore the area... while the adults prepared dinner and had drinks.... :) It is always important to have alcohol readily available when seven children are running around like banshees!! Later in the evening, Kim came with two of her kids. Then Theresa showed up-- not a good thing... Sheila came for a bit as well. After dark, we took the kids to the laser show--- we got there late, so we didn't get the best seats... but the kids seemed to have fun anyway.

On Sunday morning, we packed up camp and hiked up Stone Mountain. Sherri and I took all seven cousins up the mountain... it was quite a challenge to herd those crazy kids, but we did it! I was very proud of Danil--- he walked up and down the mountain without being being carried at all. He was a real trouper!!! We will definitely have to camp again soon!!
