On Saturday morning, I took the kids for their Christmas Portraits. Talk about stress!!! It took forever!!! None of the children would cooperate, and the photographer was getting frustrated. So was I!!! Finally we got a couple of okay shots. I will say that I won't be using that company again... And next time I take them for portraits I may take a Valium or two....
On Saturday evening, I took the kids to Stone Mountain Christmas. Sheila foolishly agreed to come with us! :) It was incredibly crowded and cold out there. The lines were extremely long for everything. It is funny that I don't remember it being so packed last year. Or maybe it is like childbirth...one promptly forgets the pain and suffering involved once it is over.
Poor Sheila stood in line for us at Santa's House while I took the kids to watch the parade. That was quite an adventure---actually a misadventure. Little A cried the whole time about how hungry she was and D darted out into the parade as it passed by. He collided with a dancing elf who sent him flying through the air. Fortunately the elf reached out and grabbed D before he hit the ground!! There were no injuries, but the crowd let out a loud gasp. It is actually lucky that the elf was running by, because if D had kept going, he would have run out in front of the truck pulling the float!!! Needless to say my nerves were shot and I kept a hand on D for the rest of the parade.
After the parade, we headed back to our place in line. The crowd was thick. I was keeping my hands on the little ones, but somehow Big A got separated from us!! I was panicked. I called and called but no answer through the crowd. Finally a very tall man was able to see her over the crowd. She was crying and a nice lady was trying to comfort her. After that scare, I was ready to go home immediately, but of course we stayed. The kids saw Santa and we saw "The Polar Express 4-D Experience." The kids had a lot of fun, so I guess the ulcer I developed that night was worth it....
